Clouds, Salt, and Sun – An Editorial ft. Renée
This series was shaped by the moody atmosphere of a cloudy sunset in South kona, where land and sea meet in quiet conversation. The black sand, turbulent ocean, and shifting light after a warm rainy spell created a perfectly moody backdrop for the session.
Featuring one of my favorite muses Renée, this shoot was all about embracing the elements: wind sweeping across the sand, ocean spray against stone, and flecks of golden light peeking through the clouds. The overcast sky softened the light, lending a cinematic, almost timeless feel to the some of the shots—moments suspended between solitude and connection.
This collection of curated pulls represent some of the darkest and cold-lit shots from the set. In contrast, we also captured a beautiful collection of bright warmer tone shots against a teal ocean backdrop that have an entirely different feeling and aesthetic. Stay tuned for those, which will also be released from the archives!

Sunset Session, Honokohau Harbor, Ft. Lila
All I can say is Lila has true presence. Shot in the shallows of Honokohau beach in Kona. Fun fact, these were the last shots from my trusty Nikon D850, a much love camera, I’ve been creating with since 2018. RIP and cheers to a new era with the mirrorless Z line.

It all begins with an idea.
First journal entry, friends! About this gallery—I’m deliberating between placing sets with this aesthetic in a Chapter 4: aka: Dark Forest, Or possibly releasing these and other forest, freshwater, and mauka shoots in an interlude between chapters 2 and 3. For now, though, I’m happy to begin publishing shots from this set on the new Wana Sea Journal!
In frame, the absolutely amazing Sophie, captured in Hilo at the most incredible tropical fruit farm. Loved this location (sans the bugs) carpeted in lush peanut plants and bright flowers.
Much more from this session to come. Copyright Wana Sea Hawaiʻi
